"France's amazing drinking culture has sort of been hiding for a while," says cookbook author David Lebovitz, who has just come out with a new book called "Drinking French." It's a lighter, longer style of drinking centered around low-alcohol cocktails meant to open the palate. Watch Lebovitz discuss French drinking culture with Christopher Kimball as he demonstrates the Yellow Cocktail, a bitter and tart drink from a little café in Paris called Caravan. The cocktail is simple: Equal parts (3/4 ounce each) fresh lemon juice, Yellow Chartreuse, Suze and gin. Try it at home and explore more French apéritifs in "Drinking French," what Kimball calls his favorite new cocktail book. For more from David, listen to him on Milk Street Radio. (Photo: Ed Anderson)
