“I get bored easily. I don’t like keeping at something for too long,” says Pic Picot, founder of Pic’s Peanut Butter. The New Zealand native has been making his double-pressed Smooth and Crunchy peanut butters for 13 years now, but he’s always had an unshakeable entrepreneurial spirit.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be able to work for myself right through,” says Picot. “I started off making sandals for my schoolmates. Then I started making bags for my mother’s friends, who had a hell of a lot more money than my schoolmates, and I started being able to make a living wherever I was.”

After stints as everything from a woodworker to a sailing school operator, Picot found himself selling small batches of peanut butter at markets, and so Pic’s was born.

“We have our customers coming through and they meet our people and our people get to realize just how much their work is appreciated,” he says. “The level of gratitude our customers show for their work, it’s just fantastic.”
