Substitute rump roast for chuck?

Hi. I want to make the cumin beef and sweet potato dish from the cookbook, but accidentally bought rump roast instead of chuck roast. Can I use it? If so, what adjustments should I make, if any? Thanks!

  • Well, I used the rump roast in this recipe and it worked just fine. Tender, tasty, and it was done in the same amount of time as was prescribed for chuck roast, in case anyone has the same question.

  • Hi James - I'm so sorry we didn't get to your question in time, but it sounds like it worked out well. Rump will be a bit leaner than chuck but likely not enough to make a difference in this dish. Best, Lynn C.
