This delicious quick-bread version of moist, tender carrot cake was suggested by Milk Street Facebook Community member Michelle Downs Matlack. Pistachios and tahini lend the bread loads of nutty notes, and candied ginger and orange bring bright, bracing flavor. Serve slices for breakfast or as an afternoon pick-me-up alongside a cup of coffee or tea.

Intriguing, Nutritious, Unusual
Loved the combination of tahini, orange and ginger with the moist carrot.

Tahini overpowers all flavors
I couldn’t wait to try this recipe and hoped it would be wonderful and different. While my bake was successful, my husband and I both felt that the flavor of the tahini masked all others. Note that I did not add the glaze; maybe that additional sweetness would help. One small note - according to my measurements, the grams of Tahini is 110 total, for the 1/3 cup plus the two tbs; not 130 + 2 tbs. Even noting this while making the batter, the tahini flavor is strong. Disappointed, but glad I tried it. Thank you for the recipe.

This is a wonderful recipe, followed exactly and was amazed at the depth of flavor.
