This recipe gives an old standby a big flavor lift. Salt accentuates the buttery caramel flavor of the butterscotch, black pepper adds savory depth and complexity, and ground ginger offers notes of warm spice. For individual desserts, portion the just-cooked pudding into jelly jars or small bowls, then refrigerate.

Delicious!
Loved it! I messed up the first time, as I was not being careful with the sugar. Second time, I gave it my full attention and it was wonderful!

Easy, and awesome. The ginger gives a nice lift and the fruitiness of the freshly cracked black pepper shines through.

Delicious with such complex flavors. The first lick of the empty pan was a hint of gingerbread and then the hint of pepper upon swallowing. I served it with whipped topping and chopped peanuts. Loved it

This was really good. Such surprising flavors. I put finely chopped crystalized ginger on the top. It was a great accent.
