Denise: You may want to try the Turkish Bean recipe from Milk Street. It is a white bean stew and not with chili flavors. Although it specifies lamb, I don't see why you couldn't modify it to use chicken. My husband and I think this is one of the very best bean dishes we have ever made...and we make a lot of bean dishes over the year...and it is one of our favorite 'go to' recipes. As is true for many from recipes for many things Milk Street, actually. :-) Here's a link.
