Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Harissa and Pistachios
In this recipe, sweet potatoes are enriched with browned butter, then are roughly mashed. We add spice with harissa, but balance it with cooling yogurt. A sprinkle of chopped pistachios adds contrasting color and texture. Serve as a side to roasted or grilled chicken, pork or lamb.

The mashed sweet potatoes with lemon juice were delicious! What a wonderful twist on a familiar taste. Adding harissa, yogurt, and pistachios changed the final product, but did not, in our opinion, improve it. Next time I will stop after I add the lemon juice, mash them, and season with salt & pepper.
