Welcome to Word of Mouth, a blog series dedicated to the unique products and tools that have helped us change the way we cook.

As they say on TikTok, I am a garlic girl. A recipe calls for two to three garlic cloves? I’m putting in four to five. I put garlic in everything from soups to pastas, stewed with a pot of Rancho Gordo beans, or even spread like butter on a piece of toast after a quick confit in the oven.

Here’s what I don’t love: mincing it. I can never get it fine enough, the smell stays on my fingers for days, mincing can take a solid 15 minutes or more, and peeling each clove is just tedious. But as inexpensive, versatile and delicious as garlic is, there’s no way I’m giving it up. Luckily, I’ve found a tool that has made my garlic-forward lifestyle a lot easier. The Garject by DreamFarm, an all-in-one garlic press, has helped cut my meal prep time in half.

Here’s what I love about it: I haven’t peeled a clove of garlic in over a year. The Garject was designed for unpeeled garlic cloves, so all I have to do is place the clove in the hopper, press, then hit the spring-loaded button that ejects the peel (which I save to make stocks for soup,). There’s even a built-in scraper that easily runs along the back to make sure I’ve gotten every last bit of garlick-y goodness into the bowl. The process from start to finish takes 30 seconds at the most. And on weeknights that just seem to get busier and busier every day, that saved time makes a real difference.

Besides saving time—and never having stinky fingers ever again—the best part is that cleaning it is a breeze. Other garlic presses I’ve had got tiny pieces of minced garlic in every crevice imaginable, and try as I might, I could never get them as clean as I wanted. Because of the scraper and peel-eject button, I don’t have to do much. Its design makes it simple to get soap and water everywhere, and no pieces are left behind.

You can even wash it in the dishwasher, and after a year of heavy use, I’ve yet to see any rust. The chrome-plated zinc body is as sturdy as ever, the plastic parts are still strong and intact, and the hinges run smoothly.

And I know what you might be thinking: do I really need another single-use tool in the drawer? The answer is a resounding “yes”! It may only press garlic, but on nights when time is tight and stomachs are rumbling, you’ll thank your past self for making life just that little bit easier.
