CA Oakland MLK Jr Elementary School SM Kimberly Miramontes

Milk Street partners with nonprofit organizations to offer cooking education to the populations they serve.

We have three partners: the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston (BSGB), the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester and FoodCorps. Proceeds from our online store and our livestream cooking school help support this work.

Big Sister Association of Greater Boston
Partners since 2016, the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston and Milk Street offer multiple programs together and serve Boston-area girls as well as youth from around the country. For Boston-area Matches, we offer drop-in cooking classes to help support the development of Bigs’ and Littles’ relationships, and we offer team-building cooking experiences for the Big Sister’s Junior Advisory Board. In 2017 we developed a virtual Career Coaching mentorship program that partnered working women and teenaged girls in a series of activities that developed career, personal and cooking skills.

On a national scope, BSGB and Milk Street partner to offer livestream drop-in cooking classes to Matches from any Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate in the country. These are open to all genders and Matches from all states.

Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester

Partners since 2016, the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester and Milk Street combine skills to provide cooking and leadership education to teenaged members of the Boys & Girls Club’s Keystone program. The Keystone Club provides leadership development opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. In our cooking classes, the youth learn teamwork, mentorship and critical thinking skills they need to succeed in their Keystone roles and beyond. Of equal importance, we have fun cooking together and exploring global home cooking over the course of four-, six and 10-week cooking programs.

FoodCorps

Partners since 2021, FoodCorps and Milk Street have a multidimensional partnership that will help FoodCorps achieve its mission by strengthening staff, service members and alumni skills. Milk Street offers FoodCorps service members training on both how to cook and how to teach cooking; runs an internship program for FoodCorps alumni, exposing participants to marketing, culinary, education and production opportunities in food-based careers; and trains FoodCorps staff in areas of food-based media production.

At this time we are not accepting more requests for partnership opportunities.
