To create this toothsome tomato salad, we took inspiration from Mexican salsa macha, which is made with dried chilies, garlic, nuts and seeds that are fried in oil, then pureed. We skipped the blender and deconstructed the salsa, adding the ingredients directly to the salad—the fried peanuts and sesame seeds add texture that contrast beautifully against meaty tomatoes. Salting the tomatoes and letting them stand deepens their flavor and softens them slightly for extra succulence and juiciness. For an especially colorful salad, use heirloom tomatoes of different hues.

Amazing flavor
I just made this recipe and it was so delicious! Interesting flavors and textures including spicy which you usually don’t get paired with ripe tomatoes and herbs. This will be a regular at my house this summer!

Tomato bliss!
This is a great way to serve summer ripe tomatoes, highly recommended. I've made it with sesame seeds; garlic; and both. Just be sure not to over-toast any of the ingredients in the dressing. Delicious, quick and easy!

It's a keeper...
I was gifted many very ripe and juicy large tomatoes from a friend and remembered being intrigued by this recipe. I made two small changes: Since the tomatoes were so juicy, I salted them and let them drain a full hour before proceeding, and I believe that was the right call, as they released a lot of liquid. Secondly, since I was serving this to guests, I cut back a bit on the chipotle as I didn't know the if my guests would like a lot of heat in the dish. That, too, was the right call for my group. I will make this again for sure!

Chipotle-Peanut Tomato Salad
Delicious. It's our new favorite. We were able to use heirloom summer tomatoes and take it to a group function. All loved it.
